- v.34 was never meant to be a standard, the ITU-T doesn't publish
- standards (or at least not in relation to modems), the publish
- RECOMMENDATIONS. It's up to the individual manufactuers to make their
- modems interwork. v.32bis has been out for long enough that almost all
- interworks well. v.34 has now reached the point where all the good modems
- interwork, and you only really run into problems when running cheap
- modems (this is espeically true if you try to connect a cheap Rockwell
- Glue 'n Go job to a cheap AT&T Glue 'n go modem). If you want to wait
- until there are no interoperability problems, don't buy a modem, because
- every modem ever made has problems, and they always will.
